Featuring uncirculated coins and a genuine Baltimore & Ohio Railroad stock certificate!
The course of history changed in 1830 when the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad transformed travel with America’s first passenger railroad — a 13-mile journey between Baltimore and Ellicott City in Maryland at the then mind-boggling speed of 15 mph. The first passengers were amazed at how fast they could travel…awed by the new technology…and dreamed about a glorious future where railroads connected even the farthest corners of the nation. Today, nearly two centuries since the B&O marked the birth of American railroads, railroading lives on as one of history’s greatest innovations and most cherished traditions.

You are invited to relive the romance and legacy of America’s original railroad…with The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Historic Commemorative Set. Available exclusively from the Danbury Mint, the set features a genuine B&O stock certificate dating to the railroad’s heyday, along with pristine Statehood Quarters from the states that were serviced by the famous railway.

The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad — also known as the B&O — quickly grew into America’s most famous and influential railroad. The B&O was a pioneer in interstate travel, and as the railroad spread into Midwestern states it developed into a vital link in America’s westward expansion. The B&O stock certificate in this collection is a genuine part of B&O history, presented in excellent condition. Prized as much for its intricate artistry as for its incredible history, the stock certificate was printed to the same high standards as U.S. currency. In fact, stock certificates like this were extremely valuable and were treated just like currency…but they are harder to find with every passing day and the limited number of remaining stock certificates are jealously guarded by collectors and historians alike.

Also included in the collection is the full set of original Statehood Quarters representing the 12 states — in addition to Washington, D.C. — that were serviced by the B&O. The coins were issued in limited editions between 1999 and 2009, and they can never be made again. Remarkably, each coin is presented in original uncirculated condition and is protectively encapsulated in a crystal-clear holder that makes it safe to examine the fine details on both sides without fear of damage from dust, dirt and fingerprints.

A stunning collection of such historic significance deserves only the finest presentation. That’s why it comes complete with a spectacular wooden display case at no additional charge. Specially designed to showcase the full collection, the display features the B&O stock certificate on the inside of the lid. As the perfect finishing touch, the display also includes artwork of a traditional B&O steam locomotive to accompany the set of uncirculated Statehood Quarters.
