An exclusive model; satisfaction guaranteed.1956 was a year of upgrades for Chrysler’s luxurious New Yorker St. Regis. Under the direction of famed designer Virgil Exner, the ’56 models were subject to a nose-to-tail facelift dubbed the “PowerStyle Design.” A new mesh grille adorned the front end while innovative "Twin-Tower" tail-lamp assemblies were fitted to reshaped rear quarter panels. But what really caught buyers’ eyes in ’56 was the body paint options. For the first time ever, Chrysler offered three-tone schemes allowing for a bevy of contrasting combinations.
Under the hood the HEMI V-8 was improved to a 354 cubic-inch brute that put out a hefty 260hp, while the automatic transmission got rid of a shift lever altogether and moved to a “space-age” push-button system, located on the instrument panel.
