Maiden of Fortune by Lena Liu
An exquisite porcelain sculpture adorned with the lucky Chinese "Fu" character, the glorious floral designs of acclaimed artist Lena Liu, and gleaming accents of 23kt gold.
In Maiden of Fortune, Lena Liu vibrantly pays tribute to one of the most popular decorations in Chinese culture. For hundreds of years, the Chinese have displayed the "Fu" character during New Year celebrations as a way to invite luck and prosperity in the coming year. The symbol is sometimes seen inverted because the Chinese pronunciation of "upside-down Fu" sounds like "luck has arrived."
This beautiful lady is meticulously crafted of fine porcelain and to achieve a level of realism found only in the finest of sculptures, her face, hair and hands are left unglazed, then carefully painted by hand. As an extra sumptuous touch, rich accents of 23kt gold shine on her lantern and gown. A golden "Fu" character gleams from behind the sculpture.
Actual size is 9-1/2" tall x 7" wide x 6" deep.
