Pontiac designer made the '69 Firebird look as if they had sent the original to the gym. Its clearly defined musculature, especially when draped in dramatic Carousel Red, accentuates all the features new to this one-year-only restyle: the chromed "beak" between the recessed headlights, the scooped front fenders, the peaked hood and the blocky, powerful rear panels. Add the potent hood and the blocky, powerful tear panels. Add the potent 400 cubic inch Quadra-Jet V-8, and this was a car that simply refused to be ignored.
